On October 12, 2026, just after 9:00 pm, a Dothan Police Officer observed a vehicle commit a traffic infraction on Honeysuckle Road near the Wells Fargo building.  The officer activated his lights to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver failed to pull over.  The vehicle attempted to elude the officer for about 3 miles before stopping in a parking lot in the 1300 block of Fortner Street. During the incident, the officer observed a small bag thrown from the vehicle as speeds reached 55 miles per hour.  An officer quickly located the bag and determined it contained marijuana.

As officers were giving commands to the driver to exit the vehicle, another vehicle pulled up with a female who began obstructing the officers from getting the driver to safely exit the vehicle.  The female, identified as Daphney Arpreatrae McCray (49) of Dothan, had to be restrained when she began actively resisting the officers’ attempt to detain her.  Once the female was detained, the male, identified as Jakorey Keshaun Corbitt (27) of Dothan, exited the vehicle and was taken into custody.  During a search of the vehicle, officers found a Glock handgun in the vehicle.  It was later revealed the McCray was the mother of Corbitt.

Corbitt was charged with one felony count of Attempting to Elude a Law Enforcement Officer, Possession of Marijuana 2^nd degree, and Tampering with Physical Evidence.  McCray was charged with Obstructing Governmental Operations and Resisting Arrest.  Corbitt was booked into the Houston County Jail, and McCray was booked into the Dothan City Jail.

On September 29, 2026, the Dothan Police Department responded to the 100 block of Third Avenue for a firearms assault.  Officers located the victim with a gunshot wound to the lower leg.  According to witnesses, the suspect, identified as Akron Jones (56) of Dothan, and the victim got into a verbal argument over a previous incident.  The altercation escalated and Jones pulled a firearm.  Jones fired at least two rounds with one striking the victim.  The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Jones was quickly taken into custody.  Jones was also found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia.  Jones has been charged with one count of Assault 1^st degree and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  Jones was booked into the Houston County Jail.

On August 5, 2026, officers with the Dothan Police Department went to an address in the 200 block of Donna Drive to locate an individual who had felony drug warrants for her arrest.  The suspect, Jasmine Iris Bravo (42), was located at the residence where officers noticed movements from Bravo that were consistent with the concealment of illegal items.

During a search, Bravo was found to be in possession of methamphetamine, fentanyl, and Percocet that she did not have a prescription for.  Bravo, in addition to her felony drug warrants, was also charged with Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute, two counts of Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, and one count of Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  Bravo was booked into the Houston County Jail.

On June 6, 2026, the Dothan Police Department met with a victim at a residence for reports of false imprisonment and sexual abuse that occurred near the intersection of South Park Avenue and Selma Street.  The victim told officers she knew the suspect, Edward Gamalier Morena Guevara, as an acquaintance that drove for a ride-share service.  The victim knew Guevara would provide rides without going through the ride-share services.  On June 6^th, the victim received a ride from Guevara from Ozark to a residence in Dothan.

The victim told investigators Guevara arrived close to the residence and pulled over into a parking lot.  Guevara requested sexual favors and refused to let the victim leave until sexual favors were performed.  The victim refused, and Guevara left the parking lot to continue to drive around.  Guevara went by the victim’s residence several times without stopping.  When it was clear Guevara would not stop until the victim complied, the victim complied with the request in order to get Guevara to let her leave the vehicle.  Once the victim was allowed to leave, the police were contacted.

After an investigation, warrants were obtained for Guevara’s arrest two days later.  Investigators went to the address on file but were unable to locate Guevara.  On July 19, 2026, Guevara was found in Huntsville, AL and arrested on the warrants obtained.  Guevara was charged with Sexual Abuse 1st degree, Unlawful Imprisonment 2nd degree, and Indecent Exposure.  Guevara was transported by and booked into the Houston County Jail.  Guevara is being held without bond.

On July 13, 2026, at about 9:40 pm, Dothan Police Officers responded to a forgery call at a motel in the 2900 block of Ross Clark Circle.  According to the person reporting, two people ordered a pizza from their business.  When the pizza was delivered, the male subject used a $50 bill to pay for the pizza.  When the delivery driver returned to the store, it was realized the money was counterfeit.  The driver returned to the motel and made contact with the two people in a different room from the one given on the order.

Officers were called and responded.  Officers made contact with the suspects, identified as Amber Sparks (43) and Gregory Speckert (38).  Officers noticed forgery equipment in the room through an open door, and investigators were called to the scene.  A search warrant was executed on the room where officers found multiple forged US currency, electronic devices used to make forged currency, identifying documents that had been forged, drug paraphernalia, and methamphetamine.

Sparks was charged with Identity Theft, Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument, Possession of a Forgery Device, Illegal Possession of a Credit/Debit Card, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (Meth), and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  Sparks was booked into the Houston County Jail with bonds totaling $101,000.

Speckert was charged with Possession of a Forgery Device, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (Meth), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument.  Speckert was booked into the Houston County Jail with bonds totaling $61,000.

On June 29, 2026, Dothan Police Officers responded to reports of shots fired in the area of Carver Drive and Hutchins Street.  As officers arrived in the area, they were directed to a residence in the 800 block of Hutchins where the individuals involved were reported to be hiding.  Officers had all occupants exit the residence, which included four juveniles under the age of 18 and two adults both age 20 years old.  As officers were getting the information of all individuals during the investigation, one subject, later identified as Brandon Tyshon Scott (20) of Dothan, gave a false name to officers.

During a search of the residence, officers found a firearm in the water tank of a toilet inside the residence.  The firearm was later identified as belonging to Scott.  The firearm was identified as stolen from Geneva on a previous date after running the serial number.  As officers were investigating the shots fired, a robbery of a person call was being handled near the intersection of East Newton Street and Price Street.  According to a description of the suspect, investigators believed Scott to be the suspect of that call.

Scott was subsequently identified as the person responsible for the robbery.  Scott was charged with Robbery 1^st degree, Receiving Stolen Property 2^nd degree for the stolen firearm, Tampering with Physical Evidence, and Obstructing Justice Using a False Identity.  Scott was booked in the Houston County Jail and is being held without bond.

On May 15, 2026, the Dothan Police Department was notified by Houston County Department of Human Resources that a juvenile under the age of 18 tested positive for marijuana while under the care of the suspect, Jessica Edenfield (35) of Dothan.  Three other children in the home, all under the age of 5, were tested by Houston County DHR and found to have illicit narcotics in their systems as well.

The investigation determined that Edenfield caused or permitted the children in her home to be exposed to illegal drugs such as methamphetamine, marijuana and cocaine.  Edenfield was subsequently charged with four felony counts of Chemical Endangerment of a Child.  Edenfield was booked into the Houston County Jail on bonds totaling $60,000.

On April 23, 2026, the Dothan Police Department received a report from an individual who said they were forced off the road on Cottonwood Road near Saunders Road.  According to the victim, they were traveling south on Cottonwood Road when a loud sound of screeching tires was heard.  The victim realized a silver truck was following her.  The victim recognized the vehicle and driver as Jason Allen Waddell (46) of Ashford.

Waddell used his vehicle to force the victim’s vehicle to crash near a church.  Before the victim could get out of the vehicle, Waddell entered the vehicle and began physically assaulting the victim.  The victim was able to get away from Waddell and escape the scene.  According to investigators, they believe, based on witnesses, Waddell thought another individual was inside the vehicle being driven by the victim.  The victim was driving this individual’s vehicle at the time of the crash.  Waddell was arrested and charged with Assault 1^st degree, a Class B felony.  Waddell is currently being held without bond at the Houston County Jail.  Additional charges are possible pending further investigation that is ongoing.

On April 27, 2026, a Dothan Police officer was patrolling around the 1000 block of Cloverdale when he noticed a man emerging from a wooded area with a passenger seat from a vehicle on his bicycle.  The officer approached the man to investigate.  During the encounter, Officers asked for consent to search the man’s property.  During the search, officers found a debit card that was not in the man’s name.  The man, identified as Daniel Shane Pegg (48), did not have a reasonable explanation for having the card.

The officer also had previous knowledge of a report taken for the person whose name was on the card for fraudulent activity after losing the card two days prior.  The victim confirmed Pegg was not allowed to have the card.  Pegg was arrested and charged with illegal possession of a debit/credit card.  Additional charges are possible after an investigation.
