On June 6, 2026, the Dothan Police Department met with a victim at a residence for reports of false imprisonment and sexual abuse that occurred near the intersection of South Park Avenue and Selma Street. The victim told officers she knew the suspect, Edward Gamalier Morena Guevara, as an acquaintance that drove for a ride-share service. The victim knew Guevara would provide rides without going through the ride-share services. On June 6th, the victim received a ride from Guevara from Ozark to a residence in Dothan.
The victim told investigators Guevara arrived close to the residence and pulled over into a parking lot. Guevara requested sexual favors and refused to let the victim leave until sexual favors were performed. The victim refused, and Guevara left the parking lot to continue to drive around. Guevara went by the victim’s residence several times without stopping. When it was clear Guevara would not stop until the victim complied, the victim complied with the request in order to get Guevara to let her leave the vehicle. Once the victim was allowed to leave, the police were contacted.
After an investigation, warrants were obtained for Guevara’s arrest two days later. Investigators went to the address on file but were unable to locate Guevara. On July 19, 2026, Guevara was found in Huntsville, AL and arrested on the warrants obtained. Guevara was charged with Sexual Abuse 1st degree, Unlawful Imprisonment 2nd degree, and Indecent Exposure. Guevara was transported by and booked into the Houston County Jail. Guevara is being held without bond.
