On July 13, 2026, at about 9:40 pm, Dothan Police Officers responded to a forgery call at a motel in the 2900 block of Ross Clark Circle. According to the person reporting, two people ordered a pizza from their business. When the pizza was delivered, the male subject used a $50 bill to pay for the pizza. When the delivery driver returned to the store, it was realized the money was counterfeit. The driver returned to the motel and made contact with the two people in a different room from the one given on the order.
Officers were called and responded. Officers made contact with the suspects, identified as Amber Sparks (43) and Gregory Speckert (38). Officers noticed forgery equipment in the room through an open door, and investigators were called to the scene. A search warrant was executed on the room where officers found multiple forged US currency, electronic devices used to make forged currency, identifying documents that had been forged, drug paraphernalia, and methamphetamine.
Sparks was charged with Identity Theft, Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument, Possession of a Forgery Device, Illegal Possession of a Credit/Debit Card, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (Meth), and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Sparks was booked into the Houston County Jail with bonds totaling $101,000.
Speckert was charged with Possession of a Forgery Device, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (Meth), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument. Speckert was booked into the Houston County Jail with bonds totaling $61,000.
