Firearm Assault in Apartment Parking Lot

On Saturday, May 20, 2023, at approximately 3:45 PM, officers responded to a firearm assault in the parking lot of 1000 South Edgewood Drive, Azalea Apartments. Officers located a male victim who sustained a gunshot wound to the upper torso. The victim was transported to a local hospital and treated for a non-life-threatening injury. After conducting several interviews and processing evidence, it was determined the suspect is a juvenile under the age of 18. The suspect is currently being sought and charges are pending. This is an isolated incident that appears to be the result of an ongoing altercation between several individuals. Due to the Alabama juvenile privacy laws and the nature of this case, no further information will be available.

Two Charged with Theft from Bank Accounts

Recently the Dothan Police Department has been investigating various reports of banking fraud. It was believed the individuals responsible for this were fraudulently obtaining information that allowed them to access individual’s bank accounts. During the early morning hours on Friday, May 19, 2023, patrol officers observed what appeared to be suspicious individuals at a local ATM. As officers began to investigate, they began to recognize signs of possible fraudulent activity. All circumstances led to a search warrant being executed at a local hotel where the out-of-town individuals were staying.

As of now, Edward Ben Noel, 23 years old, and Rodneil Dee Olewis, 24 years old, both from Pembroke, Florida, have each been charged with four counts of Theft of Property 2nd Degree and five counts of Theft of Property 3rd Degree. Both are currently being held with No Bond. This is an ongoing investigation, and we are currently attempting to determine if these individuals may be responsible for similar activities in surrounding areas.

Man Charged With Assault Second Degree

On Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at approximately 11:20 PM, officers were dispatched to an assault victim in the 600 block of North Oates Street. The victim stated the assault occurred in the 200 block of Morgan Street at a residence. The victim had been struck with a glass object and a metal pipe causing lacerations to his head. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his non-life-threatening injuries. Officers then went to the location of the assault and located the suspect along with items used in the assault.

Bobby Lamar Underwood, 35 years old of Dothan was charged with one count of Assault 2nd Degree. His bond was set at $15,000.00.

Firearm Assault Leads to Other Arrest

On Sunday night, May 14, 2023, at approximately 9:45 PM, the Dothan Police Department responded to a firearm assault in the 3300 block of Denton Road. When officers arrived, they were confronted by a large crowd of people who were disorderly and non-compliant. While attempting to calm the scene, officers were able to confirm one person had been shot in the leg. While administering aide to the gunshot victim and removing him from the chaotic scene, other individuals became disorderly and non-compliant with officer’s orders.

While attempting to determine who the suspect of the shooting was, one individual, later identified as James Ward Jr., attempted to gain physical control of an officer’s duty weapon. After regaining control of his weapon, officers attempted to place Ward in custody and other individuals attempted to prevent them from doing so.

The victim of the firearm assault was transported to a local hospital where he received treatment for his non-life-threatening gunshot wound. The details surrounding the shooting are still being investigated.

James Ward Jr., 55 years old of Headland, AL, was charged with one count of Disarming a Law Enforcement Officer. His bond was set at $10,000.00.

Cameron Mar’Tese Rodgers, 20 years old of Dothan, was charged with one count of Obstructing Governmental Operation. His bond was set at $500.00.

Another individual has a pending charge of Resisting Arrest.

Man Attempts to Kidnap a Child

On Monday, May 8, 2023, at approximately 5:30 PM, the Dothan Police Department responded to an attempted kidnapping call in the 900 block of South Ussery Street. Officers learned the suspect, Antonio McBride, attempted to grab a small child, under the age of 12, and pull the child into his residence. McBride was unsuccessful in getting the child into his residence due to the child getting away from him and fleeing. The child’s parent was close by at the time this occurred. When the child was grabbed, the child yelled out and the parent quickly responded. After the parent retrieved the child, McBride attempted to lure the child again.

As a result, Antonio Perez McBride, 44 years old of Dothan, was charged with one count of Attempted Kidnapping 2nd Degree. His bond was set at $15,000.00.

Man Charged with Assault

On Sunday, May 7, 2023, at approximately 4:00 PM, officers responded to Kentucky Fried Chicken in the 100 block of Ross Clark Circle for an assault. Officers located a female victim, who was an employee, and stated she was assaulted by the suspect, Ivan Maurice Johnson. Johnson arrived at the business, entered, and approached the employee and began physically assaulting her. Johnson continued assaulting her until bystanders pulled him away from her. The victim received minor lacerations to the head and face, and a possible concussion. This incident stimmed from a personal issue between the two and did not involve the business in any way.

Ivan Maurice Johnson, 42 years-old of Dothan, was charged with Assault 2nd Degree. His bond was set at $5,000.00.

Man Arrested after Stabbing Victim Multiple Times

On Monday, May 8, 2023, at approximately 12:30 AM, officers were dispatched to a local hospital in reference to a patient who showed up with multiple stab wounds. The victim stated the suspect, Lorenzo Harris, with whom she had a prior relationship with, showed up at her residence in the 400 block of Appletree Street wanting to retrieve personal property. While there, a verbal argument started during which time Harris retrieved a knife from inside the residence and began stabbing her multiple times in the arm, back and head. Her injuries were not life threatening and she is expected to fully recover.

Lorenzo Daquan Harris, 27 years-old of Pansey, AL was located and taken into custody. He was charged with Attempted Murder and currently has no bond.

Dothan Man Charged with Burglary

On May 4, 2023, the Dothan Police Department responded to a burglary of an unoccupied residence in the 1300 block of Haisten Drive. While officers were taking the report, a burglary of an occupied residence was reported in the 1700 block of Haisten Drive. Officers located the described suspect leaving the area of the second burglary and detained him. At that time, property from the first burglary was located in his possession.

Shawn Wayne Whitaker, 38 years old of Dothan, was charged with one count of Burglary 2nd Degree, one count of Burglary 3rd Degree, and one count of Theft of Property 3rd Degree. His bond was set at $55,000.00.

Dothan Man Charged with Identity Theft

On May 4, 2023, the Dothan Police Department began investigating a forged check that an individual cashed at a local bank. Later, the same individual attempted to cash a second forged check but was unsuccessful. It was determined the individual had provided a forged identification card with both checks. When contact was made with the individual, he was in possession of the forged identification card and a forged Alabama Conservation License. He was identified as 58 year-old Jeffrey Richard Doseck of Dothan.

Doseck was charged with two counts of Identity Theft, one count of Possession of a Forged Instrument 2nd Degree, two count of Possession of a Forged Instrument 3rd Degree, and one count of Theft of Property 1st Degree. His bond was set was $40,00.00.

Private Investigator Arrested for Theft by Deception

In November of 2021 the Dothan Police Department received a complaint from a victim alleging a private investigator in Dothan had taken advantage of them. As that was being investigated, an additional victim made a similar report. While investigating these claims additional victims came forward making similar allegations.

The facts and circumstances known about each victim was presented to the Houston County Grand Jury. The Houston County Grand Jury determined that there was sufficient evidence to move forward with prosecution and issued four indictments for Theft of Property by Deception 1st degree.

While the grand jury was convening, before the indictments were returned, another victim came forward reporting similar circumstances. For this case, a warrant for Theft of Property by Deception 1st degree was obtained.

On Monday, May 1, 2023, law enforcement executed search warrants at the residence of the private investigator in Wicksburg, Alabama as well as the office used for his business on West Main Street in Dothan.

While executing the search warrant in Wicksburg, the suspect, William (Bill) Lewis Robison Jr., 55 years old of Wicksburg, Alabama was taken into custody. He was booked into the Houston County Jail. His bond was set at $150,000.00.

This is an ongoing investigation.
