Robbery at Kangaroo Convenience Store

On March 9th at approximately 11 p.m. Dothan Police responded to a robbery at the Kangaroo Convenience Store in the 300 block of Ross Clark Circle. Once on scene they discovered that three black males entered the business with bandanna’s covering their faces. All three subjects were armed with handguns. They demanded money from the employee and fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. All three suspects were described as black males wearing black hoodies and black pants.

During the same time as the store robbery, three black males wearing blue hoodies and blue jeans approached a customer at the gas pumps armed with handguns. The suspects demanded that the customer empty his pockets. They escaped on foot with a cell phone, wallet, and a pack of cigarettes.

There were no injuries during the robberies and the robberies are still under investigation. The Dothan Police Department requests that anyone with any information about these robberies to call 334-615-3000 or call CrimeStoppers at 334-793-7000.

Dothan City School Employee Arrested for School Employee Soliciting a Sex Act with a Student under the Age of 19 Years

On March 9th Dothan Police Investigators arrested Phillip Erin Burns of Sweetwater Drive, Dothan and charged him with School Employee Soliciting a Sex Act with a Student under the Age of 19 Years.

Investigators were notified by Dothan City Schools of the allegations against Burns, an employee at Girard Middle School and Northview High School. The investigation revealed that Burns engaged in a sexually explicit conversation with a student on a social media messaging app.

Burns was subsequently arrested and a bond amount of $6,000.00 was set.

Three Arrested on Multiple Charges For Breaking into Vehicles

Dothan Police investigators have arrested three individuals in connection with a string of recent vehicle break-ins. The break-ins occurred between mid February and the beginning of March 2018. Several vehicles on the south side of Dothan, in the Blackmon Road area, were broken into and several items were taken.

On March 7th Dothan Police Investigators arrested Anthony Allen Dault of Alex Circle, Dothan and charged him with 9 counts  of Breaking and Entering a Motor Vehicle. He was also charged with 8 counts of Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card, and 2 counts of Theft of Property 1st Degree. Dault has bonds totaling $182,000.00.

Investigators also charged Blake Levoy Dooling of Alex Circle, Dothan and charged him with 8 counts of Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card and 4 counts of Breaking and Entering a Motor Vehicle. Dooling has bonds totaling $140,000.00.

Also charged for his involvement in the crimes was Brandon Keith Hale of Pansey Rd. in Ashford. Hale was charged with 7 counts of Breaking and Entering a Motor Vehicle and 1 count of Theft of Property 1st Degree. He has bonds totaling $70,000.00.

Additional Charges for Terminated Dothan Police School Resource Officer

On February 27, 2018 Dothan Police Investigators obtained an additional arrest warrant for Adrian Alexander Folmar. In December 2017 Folmar was charged with School Employee Engaging in a Sex Act with a Student Under the Age of 19 Years Old. As part of the ongoing investigation, Folmar has also been charged with School Employee Having Sexual Contact with a Student Under the Age of 19 Years Old.

As part of the original investigation an additional victim, 14 years of age, was identified. Folmar was subsequently charged with School Employee Having Sexual Contact with a Student Under the Age of 19 Years Old. This investigation is ongoing and the bond has been set at $15,000.00.

Robbery of Papa John’s

On February 20, 2018 the Dothan Police Department responded to an armed robbery at the southside Papa John’s location in the 2000 block of Ross Clark Circle.

During the robbery an unknown  male wearing a blue hoodie, mask and red pants who was armed with a small silver and black handgun robbed the store of US currency. The suspect then fled the store on foot or likely may have gotten into a waiting vehicle.

Dothan Police Looking for Police Impersonator

On February 11th 2018 patrol officers responded to a report of a police impersonator. The victim reported that he was stopped in the 1300 block of E. Selma St. by two black males that were driving a black Ford Crown Victoria or Mercury Grand Marquise. The vehicle was described as having black wheels and a push bumper on the front. The vehicle was equipped with a loud speaker and “flashing all blue lights”.  The black male was described as approximately 5 foot 9 inches tall and weighing approximately 210 pounds with a muscular build and short haircut.

The victim reported that he was told over the loud speaker to pull over. He was approached by a black male wearing a uniform with patches and a gold badge attached to his shirt. The impersonator had a police style duty belt with a radio that may have been a scanner. The victim also stated that a second black male was in the passenger seat of the vehicle, but never exited. He was asked for his drivers license and was told to exit and stand at the rear of his vehicle. He was told he matched the description of a suspect he was looking for then released.

The Dothan Police Department would also like the community to know that if you come into contact with an officer and you are unsure about the encounter please call 911. If you are being stopped slowly pull to a well lit populated area. If continuing to a well lit area is going to take an extended period of time dial 911 and ask the dispatcher if it is in fact a police officer that is pulling you over.

Shooting on Alabama Ave. in Dothan

On Tuesday January 23rd Dothan Police Responded to a 911 call of a shooting in the 700 block of Alabama Avenue. When officers arrived on scene they found the victim laying on the ground with a non life threatening gun shot wound to his upper left thigh.

Witnesses state that an argument ensued between the victim and suspect. The suspect, Anthonie Wilson, then produced a handgun and began firing shots. During the shooting two of the bullets fired entered into an occupied apartment on Alabama Avenue. There were no injuries to the occupants inside the apartment. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for his injuries and released.

A description of the vehicle and suspect were obtained and an alert patrol officer observed the vehicle on Webb Road. Patrol Officers stopped the vehicle in the 800 block of Ross Clark Circle.

Dothan Police arrested Anthonie Wilson, 29, of Denton Rd. Dothan, AL and charged him with one count of Discharging a Firearm into an Occupied Dwelling and one count of Attempted Assault 1st Degree. His bonds total $45,000.00.

Bank Robbery in Dothan

On Tuesday January 23rd Dothan Police responded to a Robbery at the Service 1st Bank in the 1600 block of Ross Clark Circle.

Witnesses state that two black males entered the business, armed with handguns, and demanded money from the employees. One of the suspects was described as a black male wearing all dark clothing and a mask. The other suspect was described as wearing a white hooded jacket and light colored pants and a mask.

The suspects fled the business, with an undetermined amount of cash, and fled in a light colored sedan. The only persons in the business at the time of the Robbery were the employees. There were no injuries.

Armed Robbery of Business in Dothan

On 01/13/2018 Dothan Police responded to an Armed Robbery at the Dollar General in the 1000 block of Montgomery Highway.

Employees reported that three black males entered the business with their faces covered and armed with handguns.  The suspects made their way behind the counter and demanded money from the employee, then fled on foot from the business with an undetermined amount of cash.

The three suspects were described as wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt with a red cross on the shoulder and bluejeans that were torn on the right side, a white belt and red shoes. Another suspect was described as being approximately six foot tall and wearing a red hooded sweatshirt and long pants. The third suspect was described as wearing a beige pullover with a grey hooded sweatshirt, dark pants and dark shoes.

Dothan Police Make Arrest for Impersonating a Police Officer

On January 4th 2018 Dothan Police responded to the 2800 block of Fortner St. to a medical emergency. While on the scene 37 year old Scotty Earl Lingo identified himself to officers and emergency personnel as an auxiliary police officer from Headland Alabama. Lingo was in possession of a Headland Police Department Auxiliary Identification Card.

Further investigation revealed that Lingo was in possession of a handgun for which he was using the police identification as his permit. Officers confirmed through the Headland Police Department that Lingo has not been an auxiliary officer with their department since January 2015.

Lingo was arrested on scene for a Domestic Violence warrant with the City of Dothan and Impersonating a Police Officer. His bond was set at $15,000.00.
