(DOTHAN, Ala.) On Sunday, July 5, 2026, at approximately 4:20 a.m., officers with the Dothan Police Department, along with personnel from Dothan Fire and Rescue, responded to the 2800 block of Fortner Street following a report of a person who had been shot.
Upon arrival, first responders located three adult males suffering from gunshot wounds.
One victim sustained a gunshot wound to the arm and is listed in stable but serious condition. A second victim sustained a gunshot wound to the leg, was treated, and has since been released from the hospital. The third victim sustained a gunshot wound to the chest and remains hospitalized in serious condition.
The preliminary investigation indicates the injuries occurred during an argument between the three individuals which turned into at least two of them pulling weapons and firing at each other. During this incident, at least one apartment and one vehicle were struck. There is no indication that anyone else was involved in the incident. This remains an active and ongoing investigation, and investigators are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident, including each individual’s involvement and criminal responsibility.
