Shooting on South Range Street

On 3/22/2018, at about 1800 hours, Dothan Police were dispatched to the 700 block of S. Range Street in reference to shots fired. Once on scene, officers located the victim laying on the ground with what appeared to be a non-life threatening gun shot wound to his upper thigh, hip area.

Witnesses said they found the victim on the ground after hearing gunshots and noticed a large crowd in the area just before the incident. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment and the investigation is still ongoing at this time.

Shooting on Alabama Ave. in Dothan

On Tuesday January 23rd Dothan Police Responded to a 911 call of a shooting in the 700 block of Alabama Avenue. When officers arrived on scene they found the victim laying on the ground with a non life threatening gun shot wound to his upper left thigh.

Witnesses state that an argument ensued between the victim and suspect. The suspect, Anthonie Wilson, then produced a handgun and began firing shots. During the shooting two of the bullets fired entered into an occupied apartment on Alabama Avenue. There were no injuries to the occupants inside the apartment. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for his injuries and released.

A description of the vehicle and suspect were obtained and an alert patrol officer observed the vehicle on Webb Road. Patrol Officers stopped the vehicle in the 800 block of Ross Clark Circle.

Dothan Police arrested Anthonie Wilson, 29, of Denton Rd. Dothan, AL and charged him with one count of Discharging a Firearm into an Occupied Dwelling and one count of Attempted Assault 1st Degree. His bonds total $45,000.00.

All persons are innocent until proven guilty.

Community Help Needed to Locate Shooting Suspect

On January 10, 2018, patrol officers responded to Southeast Alabama Medical Center in reference to a gunshot victim who arrived by personal vehicle. The victim was treated for non-life threatening injuries. It was determined the incident occurred in the 800 block of Pryor Street. Investigators responded to the scene and began an investigation.

James Mario Cherry IV, 24 years of age, has been identified as a suspect in the incident. Warrants have been obtained for Attempted Assault 1st and Discharging a Firearm into an Occupied Vehicle. Cherry is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information on Cherry’s whereabouts please contact the Dothan Police Department at 334-615-3000 or Crimestoppers 334-793-7000.
