Woman Allegedly Rams Car on Roadway

On March 26, 2022, Candance Ann Smith engaged in a road rage incident that began near Blakely, GA.  Smith attempted multiple times to stop the victim, with whom she had been in a relationship with, and his vehicle between Blakely, GA, and Dothan.

Once in the 1400 block of Ross Clark Circle in Dothan, Smith’s vehicle and the victim’s vehicle collided while traveling on the roadway.  As a result, the victim’s vehicle lost control and left the roadway, receiving moderate damage.  Neither of the two adult occupants in the victim’s vehicle was injured.

Man Arrested for Domestic Strangulation and Burglary

On March 13, 2022, the Dothan Police Department responded to a residence on Denton Road in reference to a domestic violence call.  Officers made contact with the victim and learned the suspect, 25 year-old Kwentez Lamonte Thomas forced his way into the victims residence while armed with a weapon and began choking her and threatened to kill her.

Kwentez Lamonte Thomas, of Crusseta, GA, was charged with one count of domestic violence first degree and one count of domestic violence strangulation.  His bond is $90,000.00.

 

Man Shoots Girlfriend in Eye

On 02/08/2020, the Dothan Police Department responded to South East Health in reference to a shooting victim. When officers arrived, they found a female victim had been shot in the eye in 1000 blk of Greentree.  Through the course of the investigation, it was determined that William Woods (33) shot his girlfriend in the eye  during an altercation.  The victim was flown to UAB for further treatment but is expected to recover.

William Woods was charged with Domestic Violence 1st Degree and is being held on a $60,000 bond.

All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

 

Dothan Man Arrested for Kidnapping and Domestic Violence

The Dothan Police have arrested David Prokopchuk for kidnapping and domestic violence 1st degree . The Dothan Police received a call from the Southeast Health about a woman in the emergency room. When police arrived, they found that the victim had been held against her will for over 12 hours.  The victim had extensive physical bruises and broken bones. The victim was able to flee from the suspect  and made it to the emergency room.

The suspect, David Prokopchuk (32) is being held without  bond.

All persons are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

 

Arrest Made in Domestic Shooting

On October 17, 2019, the Dothan Police Department received a call of persons shot, while attempting to kill a rabid raccoon on Brighton Court. When officers arrived, they found two people shot inside the residence. One person was shot in the leg and the other was shot in the arm.

After an investigation, it was determined that one gunshot wound was self-inflicted in an effort to cover up a domestic violence act. The victim received a non-life threating injury and there was no rabid raccoon at the scene.

Catherine Fernandez (37) was arrested and charged with Domestic Violence 1st Degree and will be held on a $30,000 bond.

All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

 

Arrest Made in Stabbing on S. Lena St.

On October 1st, 2019 Dothan Police responded to a report of an edged weapon assault in the 600 block of S. Lena Street. When officers arrived they located the victim sitting on the porch with a stab wound to his upper chest. Rescue was called to the scene and transported the victim to Southeast Health with non life threatening injuries.

The victim stated that he was stabbed with a knife by his girlfriend,  18 year old Laprincea Elease Bell.  Bell was located by police hiding in a bedroom inside of a residence in the 900 block of S. Alice Street a short time later. She was taken into custody without incident.

The victim was admitted to Southeast Health for his injuries and is listed in stable condition. Bell was charged with one count of Domestic Violence 2nd degree and has a $5,000.00 bond.

All persons are innocent until proven guilty.
