Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies Accreditation Public Comment Portal

If you have comments regarding the Dothan Police Department’s CALEA accreditation and would like to provide information to CALEA, there is an Accreditation Public Comment Portal located at https://cimrs2.calea.org/857.

The purpose of the public portal is to receive comments regarding an agency’s compliance with CALEA standards, engagement in the service community, deliver of public safety services, and overall candidacy for accredited status. These comments can be in the form of commendations or concerns. The overall intent of the accreditation process is to provide the participating agency with information to support continuous improvement, as well as foster the pursuit of professional excellence.

IMPORTANT: CALEA is not an investigatory body and subsequently the public portal should not be used to submit information for such purpose. Additionally, the information will be considered in context to its relevancy to compliance with standards and the tenents of CALEA Accreditation.

Accreditation Assessment Team Invites Public Comment

On behalf of The Dothan Police Department, Chief Parrish is excited to announce a team of assessors from the Commission of Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA ®), will arrive March 19, 2018 to examine all aspects of the Dothan Police Department’s policy and procedures, management, operations and support services.

Verification by the team that Dothan Police Department meets the Commission’s state-of-the-art standards is part of a voluntary process to gain accreditation, a highly prized recognition of public safety professional excellence.

As a part of the on-site assessment, agency personnel and members of the community are invited to offer comments at a public information session on March 20, 2018 at 5 PM. The public information session will be held in the Municipal Courtroom at 210 N. St. Andrews Street in the Kater Williams Justice Building.

DPD promotes new captain

Capt. Eddie Henderson

During a promotion ceremony in the company of family, friends and colleagues, Chief Parrish promoted Lt. Eddie Henderson to the rank of Police Captain.

Capt. Henderson has been with the department for more than 25 years. He has served in many positions throughout his career including patrol, community relations and was a DARE officer as well. His most recent assignment was as the department’s CALEA Accreditation Manager.

Captain Henderson will serve as commander of the department’s Administrative Services Bureau, which includes the records, animal shelter, technical services, crime analysis and CALEA accreditation functions.
