Arrest Made for Terroristic Threats at Northview High School

In the evening hours of Thursday 11/16/2017 the Dothan Police Department received several reports of a social media post that was being spread involving a threat towards Northview High School. Dothan Police Investigators responded and, with the help of Dothan City Schools, were able to identify the individuals involved in making the threat.

As a result of the investigation three juveniles were arrested and charged with Terroristic Threats. All three juveniles arrested were placed in the Southeast Alabama Diversion Center. Due to the age of the juveniles their identities cannot be released.

In order to ensure the safety of all students and staff there will be additional officers present at Northview High School on Friday 11/17/2017.

All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty.

Torture, Willful Abuse

On November 14, 2017, Keshondra Tyree Corbitt, 27 years old, was charged with 1 count of torture, willful abuse, etc., of a child under 18 years of age by responsible person.  Bond has been set at $15,000.00.

This charge resulted from Corbitt punishing a 6 year old child for a disciplinary issue the child received at school.  Corbitt punished the child with a belt, however, the punishment went too far and the child received multiple bruises and marks on her arms, stomach, back, side, legs and face.

The Dothan Police Department was notified of this incident by the City of Dothan School System as part of their requirement according to the State of Alabama Mandatory Reporting System.  The Dothan Police Department was assisted in this investigation by the Houston County Department of Human Resources.

All subjects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law

Burglary 3rd degree

On 11/12/2017, Jeffrey Powell (45) was arrested for Burglary 3rd degree which occurred in the 2800 block of Ross Clark Circle.  His bond was set at $5,000.00.

All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Unlawful Breaking and Entering a Vehicle

On 11/08/2017, Rachel Smith Todd (40) was arrested for Unlawful Breaking and Entering a Vehicle and Receiving Stolen Property 3rd Degree X2  which occurred in the 2100 block of Montgomery Highway.  Her bond was set at $12,000.00.

All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

 

Fugitive Captured at Local Hotel

On 11/10/2017 Vice Investigators along with the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force located and arrested 33 year old Kyle Fletcher Pate from Panama City.

Fletcher fled the panhandle of Florida approximately two weeks ago following a federal indictment from the Drug Enforcement Administration for distribution of heroin. Fletcher had been hiding in the Atlanta area until late yesterday afternoon. He was located in a hotel parking lot in the 2800 block of Ross Clark Circle.

Fletcher was transported to the Dothan City Jail pending transfer to Bay County Florida by the U.S. Marshals.

Arrest made for Indecent Exposure

On 11/07/2017 Dothan Police made an arrest at a local department store in the 900 block of Commons Drive for Indecent Exposure.

The investigation revealed that Jeremy Oshawn McClain, 28, of Canterbury Farms Road, Midland City AL exposed himself in public for Sexual Gratification. McClain followed a female shopper around the store for several minutes before stopping behind a clothes rack and exposing himself to masturbate. The police were called and were able to apprehend McClain inside the store.  He was taken into custody and confessed to the crime. McClain is a registered sex offender from Dale County. The Dale County Sherriffs Office has been notified of the arrest.

Bond was set at $6000.00.

Local Man Arrested for Attempted Murder

On 11/08/2017 Dothan Police responded to the 900 block of Fortner St. to a report of shots fired. The victim, Christopher Gordon, was sitting in his vehicle when shots were fired from another vehicle. Christopher Gordon was transported, by ambulance, to a local hospital with critical injuries and is currently in stable condition.

Quan Depravious McGhee, 42, of N. Bell St. Dothan AL was arrested and charged with Attempted Murder for his involvement in the shooting. A bond amount will be approved later today.

The investigation is ongoing and further charges are pending.

All Persons Arrested are Innocent until Proven Guilty.

Pedestrian struck on East Main Street

On November 3rd, at 6:40 pm, Dothan Police responded to a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian on E. Main Street at Plant Street. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene. The victim has been identified as 70 year old Ezell Canion Jr. of Dothan.

Preliminary investigation indicates Mr. Canion was crossing E. Main Street when he was struck by a 2003 Mercedes SUV. The crash is being investigated by the Dothan Police Department Traffic Division.

The Dothan Police Department would like to express our sympathies to the Canion family.
