Dothan Police Make Arrest for Financial Exploitation of the Elderly and Insurance Fraud

On November 21, 2017 Dothan Police Investigators arrested Loretta Bowman Williamson, 58, of Victoria St. Louisville Alabama for one count of Financial Exploitation of the Elderly First degree and one count of Insurance Fraud First degree.

The investigation revealed that Mrs. Williamson exploited more than $26,000.00 from the victim between the months of December 2016 to October 2017. Mrs. Williamson also defrauded an insurance company for more than $13,000.00 between the dates of April 2017 and September 2017.

Bond amount is set at $10,000.00

All persons are innocent until proven guilty.

Armed Robberies In Dothan

On Monday November 20, 2017 at approximately 10:15 p.m. Dothan Police responded to an Armed Robbery at the Dollar General in the 2800 block of Ross Clark Circle. Three to four black males entered the business armed with a firearm and demanded cash from the business. The suspects are described as wearing dark colored clothing and their faces were covered. All suspects fled on foot from the business with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Also on November 20, 2017 at approximately 3:00 a.m. Dothan Police responded to another Armed Robbery at The Hobo Pantry in the 700 block of Ross Clark Circle . Three black males dressed in dark clothing with their faces covered entered the business armed with a firearm and demanded money. The suspects again fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.

Arrest Made for Terroristic Threats at Northview High School

In the evening hours of Thursday 11/16/2017 the Dothan Police Department received several reports of a social media post that was being spread involving a threat towards Northview High School. Dothan Police Investigators responded and, with the help of Dothan City Schools, were able to identify the individuals involved in making the threat.

As a result of the investigation three juveniles were arrested and charged with Terroristic Threats. All three juveniles arrested were placed in the Southeast Alabama Diversion Center. Due to the age of the juveniles their identities cannot be released.

In order to ensure the safety of all students and staff there will be additional officers present at Northview High School on Friday 11/17/2017.

Fugitive Captured at Local Hotel

On 11/10/2017 Vice Investigators along with the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force located and arrested 33 year old Kyle Fletcher Pate from Panama City.

Fletcher fled the panhandle of Florida approximately two weeks ago following a federal indictment from the Drug Enforcement Administration for distribution of heroin. Fletcher had been hiding in the Atlanta area until late yesterday afternoon. He was located in a hotel parking lot in the 2800 block of Ross Clark Circle.

Fletcher was transported to the Dothan City Jail pending transfer to Bay County Florida by the U.S. Marshals.

Local Man Arrested for Attempted Murder

On 11/08/2017 Dothan Police responded to the 900 block of Fortner St. to a report of shots fired. The victim, Christopher Gordon, was sitting in his vehicle when shots were fired from another vehicle. Christopher Gordon was transported, by ambulance, to a local hospital with critical injuries and is currently in stable condition.

Quan Depravious McGhee, 42, of N. Bell St. Dothan AL was arrested and charged with Attempted Murder for his involvement in the shooting. A bond amount will be approved later today.

The investigation is ongoing and further charges are pending.

Pedestrian struck on East Main Street

On November 3rd, at 6:40 pm, Dothan Police responded to a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian on E. Main Street at Plant Street. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene. The victim has been identified as 70 year old Ezell Canion Jr. of Dothan.

Preliminary investigation indicates Mr. Canion was crossing E. Main Street when he was struck by a 2003 Mercedes SUV. The crash is being investigated by the Dothan Police Department Traffic Division.

The Dothan Police Department would like to express our sympathies to the Canion family.

Theft of Property Arrest

On 11/01/2017 35 year old Kent Anderson from Kits Rd. Ashford AL was arrested for Theft of Property 3rd degree. This stems from a theft from a business in the 3300 block of S. Oates St. Dothan Alabama.

Mr. Anderson’s bond was set at $5,000.00.

All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty.

10 Year Old Boy Set on Fire

On Friday night, 10-20-2017, the Dothan Police Department was notified by Emergency Room Staff of Southeast Alabama Medical Center that a juvenile victim had been brought to their facility with severe burns. Once patrol officers determined the severity of injuries, Criminal Investigators were notified and began an investigation into the incident.

The investigation revealed the 10 year old victim had a flammable hair product poured on him by his 12 year old sister. After the flammable product was poured on him, his sister intentionally ignited the product with a cigarette lighter.  As a result, the 10 year old victim received severe burns to a large portion of his body to include his back, side, arm and underarm.  Due to the extent of the injuries, the victim was immediately sent to Children’s Hospital of Alabama in Birmingham for treatment in the Children’s Burn Unit.  The victim is expected to survive; however, he will have a lengthy recovery and permanent disfigurement.

The Houston Henry County District Attorney’s Office was notified and the 12 year old female suspect was subsequently charged by the Dothan Police Department with Assault 1st Degree.  The presiding Houston County Judge remanded the custody of the suspect to a family member, under the monitoring of a DHR Safety Plan.  Assisting in the ongoing investigation is the Houston County Department of Human Resources and the Houston County Juvenile Court System.  From here, the case will proceed through the Houston County Juvenile Judicial System.

Due to the fact all parties involved in this case are juveniles, their identities or any additional information cannot be released.

Vehicle Vs. Pedestrian Press Release

On 10/24/17 at 6:40 pm, Dothan Police responded to a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian in the 800 block of N. Range St. The pedestrian was transported to Southeast Alabama Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased.  The victim has been identified as 56 year old b/m Dwayne Holloman of Dothan.  The driver of the vehicle failed to stop and left the scene of the crash.  The vehicle is described as a black or dark colored Saturn.  The vehicle should have front end damage and should be missing at least two hubcaps.  If you have any information about the crash, vehicle or the driver, please contact the Dothan Police Department at 334-615-3000 or CrimeStoppers at 334-793-7000.  The crash is being investigated by the Dothan Police Department Traffic Division.  The Dothan Police Department wishes to extend our sympathies to the Holloman family.

Narcotics Arrest

On Monday 10/15/2107 Vice Investigators arrested and charged 25 year old Stephen James Frank, of Saddlewood Trail, with Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Pistol by a Violent Felon, Possession of Marijuana 2nd degree, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Vice Investigators made contact with Frank in the 2100 block of Ross Clark Circle in a parking lot. Investigators recovered five hundred and eighty six Alprazolam (Xanax) pills, a handgun, and two grams of marijuana.

Bond has been set at $20,000. All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilt y in a court of law.
