Suspect Caught After Robbery.

Dothan Police responded to a robbery in progress at the Circle K, 4196  Ross Clark. Patrol officers surrounded the area and apprehended  Derrick Gibson (31) of Dothan. Gibson will be charged with  robbery 1st and is being held on a $50,000 bond.

All persons are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

 

Arson Arrest

On Friday 11/22/2019 Investigators arrested and charged 28 year old Richard Lawrence Snodgrass, of W. Powell Street, with Arson 1st. This stems from the fire at the abandoned commercial building (Meadow Gold Building) on Powell Street from the day prior. Snodgrass currently has no bond.

All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

 

Arrest Made in Southeast Health Robbery

The Dothan Police have made an arrest in the robbery that occurred near Southeast Health on November 12th. Police have arrested Robert Antonio Parrish (17) of Dothan and charged him with Robbery 1st degree. Parrish is a juvenile but is being charged as an adult and is currently being held in the Houston County Jail on $60,000 bond.

All persons are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Dothan Police Assaulted

Two Dothan Police Officers were assaulted last night while performing a traffic stop in the 2100 blk of Montgomery Hwy. The driver attempted to throw narcotics in the back seat of his car. As officers tried to place Brandon Rashawn McGhee in handcuffs he began to fight and throw punches at both officers. Both officers received minor injuries and Brandon McGee fled the scene on foot.

Newville Man Arrested for Multiple Burglaries in Dothan

The Dothan Police have arrested Rasheed Walker (24) of Newville, AL for multiple burglaries in Dothan.  The burglaries occurred in the 100 block of East Spring Street, 1100 block of Martin Street, 900 block of North Park Avenue, and 800 block of Chinook Street.

Walker is being held on a $60,000 bond. All persons are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

 

Joint Investigation Nabs Drug Trafficker

On November 13, 2019, a joint investigation between the Dothan Police Department Narcotics Division and Eufaula Police Department Special Operations Division resulted in the arrest of Araceli Martinez-Zamora, 31, of Eufaula, Alabama.

Wednesday afternoon, a traffic stop of Martinez-Zamora’s vehicle was conducted in the 1900 block North Eufaula Avenue. During the traffic stop, Martinez-Zamora was found in possession 7 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, a street value in excess of $400,000. Martinez-Zamora was booked into Eufaula City Jail on Drug Trafficking charges.

All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

 

Robbery of Person South East Health

On 11/12/2019,  the Dothan Police Department responded to the parking lot of the South East Health in reference to a robbery of a person.  The victim was arriving at work when she was confronted by an unknown subject that brandished a firearm and demanded her purse. The case is still developing and multiple investigators are on the scene.  We will update when more information is known.

Botched Robbery Leave Victim and Suspect Shot

On 11/04/2019, The Dothan Police Department responded to the 1000 block of Greentree Ave. In reference to a robbery/shooting call. When officers arrived, it was determined that there were two people shot. The investigation revealed that a suspect pulled a weapon on the victim and a struggle ensued. The suspect fired a round into the victim’s leg and the victim pulled a weapon and fired two rounds into the suspect. One round went into the shoulder and the other into the leg. Both men received medical treatment and all wounds are considered non-life threating. Arrests are to follow.

Update from a Previous Story

On 10/24/2019 Dothan Police responded to a single vehicle accident near the intersection of W. Powell Street and Edgewood Drive. Officer quickly determined that the driver was suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body and was transported to a local hospital. The victim is currently listed in critical condition.

The investigation is ongoing. Investigators are conducting searches and interviews throughout the area.

Investigators have arrested and charged two suspects in this crime:

  • 26-year-old Michael S. Jones, of Broadway Street Ashford, and
  • 29 year old Calvin Bivens, of Greentree Street.

Both suspects were charged with Robbery 1st degree and Attempted Murder and are being held on no bond.

All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
