(DOTHAN, Ala.) On February 22, 2026, at around 10:30 pm, Dothan Police Officers responded to a residence in the 1100 block of Fountain Street for a firearm assault. Officers found a female victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the hand, which was non-life threatening. The scene was secure and investigators called to the scene.
According to the investigation, the suspect, identified as Zechariah Quantrill Jones (18) of Dothan, was arguing with other individuals on scene while in possession of a firearm. Jones assaulted one person by striking them with the firearm during the argument. Others attempted to step in when Jones discharged a round that struck the victim in the hand. Jones was located on scene and taken into custody.
Jones was arrested and charged with one count of Assault 1st degree, one count of Assault 2nd degree, and one count of Attempted Assault 1st degree.
