Shots Fired in Apartment Complex Parking Lot

Just before 2:00 AM on Thursday, April 4, 2024, the Dothan Police Department was notified of several shots being fired in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 2200 block of Westgate Parkway. Officers arrived on scene and found two apartments and several vehicles in the parking lot with bullet holes in them. Entry was made into both apartments to conduct welfare checks on the occupants. One apartment was determined to be unoccupied. An adult female and two children occupied the other apartment and officers found the adult female had received a gunshot wound to her lower torso while sleeping in her upstairs bedroom. She was transported to a local hospital where she underwent surgery for her non-life-threatening injury.

Evidence at the scene revealed shots were fired from two different locations which indicates two or more individuals were exchanging gunfire. The Dothan Police Department is asking anyone who has information related to this incident to call the Dothan Police Department at 615-3000. The Dothan Police Department will stringently guard and protect the identities of anyone wishing to help in an anonymous capacity.
