On May 13th and 14th Dothan Police received reports of fifteen vehicle break-ins on the east side of Dothan. The reports were from Crossing Ln., Hidden Lake Subdivision, and Brookhill Drive. An investigation began in the crimes and video was released of one of the suspects.
On May 16th the investigator working the case was off duty and made contact with a person he believed to be the suspect in the vehicle break-ins at the Walker’s Deluxe Motel in the 3200 block of E. Main Street. The suspect was identified as 21 year old Nhayquan Travone Bethel of Dothan. He was in the company of 23 year old Shantoria Lashaey Owens, also of Dothan.
Based on information gathered during the investigation Investigators conducted a search warrant of the room and vehicle belonging to the two suspects and recovered property taken from the recent break-ins. The property recovered included several firearms, purses, and wallets belonging to the victims.
Nhayquan Travone Bethel has been charged with fourteen counts of Unlawful Breaking and Entering a Motor Vehicle and has bonds totaling $210,000.00. Shantoria Lashaey Owens has also been charged with fourteen counts of Unlawful Breaking and Entering a Motor Vehicle and also has bonds totaling $210,000.00. This investigation is ongoing and more charges may be forthcoming.
On May 15, 2019 Dothan Police responded to a report of several vehicle break-ins on the east side of the city. These break-ins occurred during the evening and early morning hours of May 13th and May 14th in the area of Crossing Ln., Hidden Lake Subdivision, and Brookhill Drive.
Citizens reported fifteen vehicles broken into. In six of the break-ins entry was made through a busted window. The others were unlocked vehicles. Items taken during the break-ins were two hand guns, as well as, various items such as wallets and purses.
Dothan Police would like to remind the public to always lock your vehicles every time you leave them and never leave valuable items inside of your vehicle, especially in plain view. On 05/14/2019 Dothan Police Narcotics Officers and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Agents made contact with Jackie Lee King, in the 11000 block of East State Highway 52, Columbia, Alabama. During contact, King was found in possession of approximately 4 pounds of crystal methamphetamine with a street value of approximately $20,000.00. King was placed under arrest for Drug Trafficking and taken to the Dothan City Jail. King’s bond was set at $500,000.00. This arrest concludes a lengthy investigation into the methamphetamine drug trade in Dothan and the surrounding areas.
