Andrews Bridal Shop Robbery

On April 1, 2019 at approximately 12:30 P.M. Dothan Police responded to a Robbery at Andrews Bridal Shop in the 2800 block of Montgomery Highway. Officers arrived on scene and spoke to a female employee that was working when the robbery occurred.

The employee stated that a black male wearing a dark shirt and dark pants also wearing a ball cap entered the business and inquired about a tuxedo. The male was described as being between 25 – 30 years old, between 5’5″ and 5’9″ tall and weighing between 170-180 pounds. During her interaction with the male he hit her in the side of the head with his fist and the employee began to struggle with him. During the struggle the male produced a handgun and pointed it at her head. The suspect took an undisclosed amount of cash from the register and forced the victim to go to the rear of the store.

Once at the rear of the store she was forced to lay on the ground. The male then removed some of her clothing and began touching her inappropriately. At this point, customers began showing up to the store and the male exited the rear door. He was seen by witnesses getting into a small maroon SUV and leaving the scene. The victim was taken to Southeast Health for treatment with non-life threatening injuries.

Auburn police officer shooting

UPDATE @ 10:13pm: The suspect is no longer a threat at this time.

We are continuing to monitor the events in Auburn, Alabama a short time ago. An Auburn Police Officer was shot and critically injured after effecting a traffic stop involving a robbery suspect.

The suspect has been identified as 38-year-old white male Christopher James Wallace. He may be in the company of an unknown white female. He may be wearing or in possession of a camo hoodie sweatshirt.

The vehicle is a silver Jeep Liberty bearing a Barbour County, Alabama tag 6AB5267.

The suspect is considered armed and dangerous. If you see the vehicle or suspect please call 911.

At the time of this post, we do not believe the suspect is in the Dothan area, but if you have any family or friends near Auburn please make them aware of this potentially dangerous situation.

Thankfully the officer who was shot is in stable condition and expected to make a recovery.

Armed Robbery at Dollar General

On August 6, 2018 Dothan Police responded to an armed robbery at the Dollar General Store located in the 2800 block of Ross Clark Circle. Employees of the store reported that at approximately 9:50 a.m. a black male entered the store with a green toboggan covering his face and he was armed with a handgun.

The employees stated that the suspect pointed the weapon at them and demanded money from the register. The suspect was described as being approximately 5’6″ to 5’7″ tall and weighing approximately 140 to 160 lbs. His clothes were described as a blue long sleeve shirt and black pants with a grey stripe down the leg and white tennis shoes.

The suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. Anyone with any information about this case is urged to contact the Dothan Police Department at 334-615-3000 or contact CrimeStoppers at 334-793-7000.

Robbery of Papa John’s

On February 20, 2018 the Dothan Police Department responded to an armed robbery at the southside Papa John’s location in the 2000 block of Ross Clark Circle.

During the robbery an unknown  male wearing a blue hoodie, mask and red pants who was armed with a small silver and black handgun robbed the store of US currency. The suspect then fled the store on foot or likely may have gotten into a waiting vehicle.

Dothan Police Looking for Police Impersonator

On February 11th 2018 patrol officers responded to a report of a police impersonator. The victim reported that he was stopped in the 1300 block of E. Selma St. by two black males that were driving a black Ford Crown Victoria or Mercury Grand Marquise. The vehicle was described as having black wheels and a push bumper on the front. The vehicle was equipped with a loud speaker and “flashing all blue lights”.  The black male was described as approximately 5 foot 9 inches tall and weighing approximately 210 pounds with a muscular build and short haircut.

The victim reported that he was told over the loud speaker to pull over. He was approached by a black male wearing a uniform with patches and a gold badge attached to his shirt. The impersonator had a police style duty belt with a radio that may have been a scanner. The victim also stated that a second black male was in the passenger seat of the vehicle, but never exited. He was asked for his drivers license and was told to exit and stand at the rear of his vehicle. He was told he matched the description of a suspect he was looking for then released.

The Dothan Police Department would also like the community to know that if you come into contact with an officer and you are unsure about the encounter please call 911. If you are being stopped slowly pull to a well lit populated area. If continuing to a well lit area is going to take an extended period of time dial 911 and ask the dispatcher if it is in fact a police officer that is pulling you over.

Community Help Needed to Locate Shooting Suspect

On January 10, 2018, patrol officers responded to Southeast Alabama Medical Center in reference to a gunshot victim who arrived by personal vehicle. The victim was treated for non-life threatening injuries. It was determined the incident occurred in the 800 block of Pryor Street. Investigators responded to the scene and began an investigation.

James Mario Cherry IV, 24 years of age, has been identified as a suspect in the incident. Warrants have been obtained for Attempted Assault 1st and Discharging a Firearm into an Occupied Vehicle. Cherry is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information on Cherry’s whereabouts please contact the Dothan Police Department at 334-615-3000 or Crimestoppers 334-793-7000.
