Juvenile Shot in Ankle in Drive-By Shooting

On 1/5/2020, the Dothan Police Department responded to the 4800 blk of Montgomery Hwy in reference to a person shot. When officers arrived, they were informed that an  SUV had came through the parking lot and opened fire on a group of juveniles.  One of the bullets struck a 15 year old in the ankle.  The juvenile was treated and released.

The Dothan Police Department takes this kind of act  very seriously and will be releasing more information in the near future.

If anyone has any information you are encouraged to contact the Dothan Police at 334-615-3000.

Marking on Cars and Sex-Trafficking

The Dothan Police Department is aware of the circling rumors that are on social media about marking on cars for sex-traffickers.  These rumors are just that, rumors. Most of the time traffickers are using computers or it is someone they already know or peer to peer. It is very rare for them to prey on a strangers. The Dothan Police have no cases of suspected sex  trafficking at this time.  The more the story circulates on social media, the more criminals and pranksters will try and to induce fear by marking other vehicles. The Dothan Police Department has made contact with the Alabama Fusion Center and their national experts on sex-trafficking called this an “urban legend.” The Dothan Police Department would have issued warnings if there was any merit to these claims.
