Search Warrant Leads to Burglary Arrest and Fire

On September 17, 2019 Dothan Police executed a search warrant in the 5000 block of Third Avenue. The search warrant was related to a Burglary that occurred at the Outpost gun store located in the 2600 block of Ross Clark Circle. The suspect, Jefferey Wilson (30), was also a suspect in a burglary of a pawn shop in Geneva Alabama.

When investigators arrived the suspect barricaded himself inside the fifth wheel RV that he was living in. He refused officers commands to exit the camper and the Dothan SRT and Houston County SRT teams both responded the location. While officers were attempting to talk the suspect out of the RV, smoke began coming out of the roof of the camper. Smoke quickly turned to flames and Wilson exited through a window at the rear of the camper and was taken into custody and moved to a safe location.

Dothan Fire Department as well as Rehobeth Fire Department extinguished the fire, however the camper was a total loss. After the fire was extinguished officers were able to recover evidence from both burglaries.

Jefferey Bruce Wilson was charged with one count of burglary 3rd Degree, one count of Arson 3rd Degree and no bond has been set in this case. Wilson will also face charges in Geneva County.

All persons are innocent until proven guilty.
