Wiregrass Park Homicide Update

On Tuesday May 23, 2017 following the homicide at Wiregrass Park Investigators immediately started working with the Bay County Sheriff’s Office and Panama City Police Department.

On Wednesday May 24 Dothan PD Investigators travelled to Bay County and began conducting interviews and following leads in an attempt to locate the shooter and everyone that was involved. They worked throughout the night.

From information gained the previous day, on Thursday May 25 Dothan PD Investigators obtained a warrant on 16 year old Ashanti T. Williams, from Parker Drive Panama City, for his involvement in the murder. Williams is charged as an adult.

On Friday May 26 at approximately 2:30 p.m. Officers with the Panama City Police Department located and stopped the vehicle that was driven when the murder occurred. The 15 year old male wanted for the murder, Williams, and an additional 16 year old male were inside the vehicle. The three occupants were taken into custody and transported to the Bay County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators from Dothan PD, who were still in Bay County, assisted Bay County Investigators in interviewing all three individuals.

The 15 year old male and Williams were arrested on Fugitive from Justice Warrants and are awaiting extradition back to Dothan for the murder. Bay County Sheriff’s Office has charged the other 16 year old male with Accessory after the Fact (Murder) and Grand Theft Auto.

The Dothan Police Department would like to thank Sheriff T. Ford and the Bay County Sheriff’s Office as well as Chief Scott Ervin and the Panama City Florida Police Department for their assistance in bringing this case to a close.
